David Perry

Current Position:
Carole James appointed Perry as her first Chief of Staff following the
2005 election. He served in that role until 2007, and now works as a
lobbyist.
Past Positions: Ministerial Assistant to Finance Minister Joy MacPhail in the Glen Clark government.
Family Connections:
Perry spent time working with NDP MP Ian Waddell. As Chief of Staff to
James, he hired Clark-era operative Mary O’Donaghue. O’Donaghue was
business partners with current James Chief of Staff Ian Reid and
current NDP MLA John Horgan in the consulting firm Ideaworks. Perry
supported Glen Clark during the 1995-96 NDP leadership race.
Family Secrets:
As the senior political advisor to the Minister of Finance, Perry was
intimately familiar with the nearly $2 bBillion in tax increases
brought in by the NDP. He was also a senior political operative during
the record debt and deficits piled up by NDP governments.
